Is there a «Social» divide? Italian Millennials, social networks and social inclusion digital Is there a «Social» divide? Italian Millennials, social networks and social
inclusion
Anno: 2019
The aim of this paper is to explore the connection among Italian Millennials, Social Networks and Social Inclusion, drawing mainly from a national survey conducted by Istituto G. Toniolo «Rapporto Giovani» in 2017. The analysis will be centered on the ways in which Italian Millennials use Social Networks, with a peculiar focus on the «high uses» of Facebook&Co. By «high uses» we mean usages that are non-ludic but related to political/civic engagement or dedicated to self empowerment through social capital construction and enhancement...

Riaprire (al)la complessità. Note per un re-framing socio-antropologico digital Riaprire (al)la complessità. Note per un re-framing socio-antropologico
Anno: 2011
F. INTROINI, Re-opening complexity. Notes for a socio-anthropological reframing Globalization and its emphasis upon a world society and a world global order in which processes and actors connect in non-linear ways has re-awaken sociology’s social interest for complexity as if complexity itself could be a sort of «new paradigm» able to put social sciences in the best condition to deal with contemporary social world and its apparent non-intellegibility. This contribution aims to sketch a historical pathway in the field of complexity to show how – altought there exists a specifc language and a particular categorical apparatus that seems to legitimate the idea of a «science of complexity» – complexity studies can’t be appropriately thought of in terms of a coherent and unified paradigm, because this would mean to betray complexity itself and its profound anthropological implications. This is the suggestive lesson coming from complexity masters such as Morin, Latour and Urry. Key words: complexity, science, social sciences epistemology, anthropology, (global) order.

Istituzioni comunitarie e società civile nel processo di Europe building digital Istituzioni comunitarie e società civile nel processo di Europe building
Anno: 2008
Europe building process is a key factor in the future of societies that take part or will take part in it. First of all, Europe building is the attempt to cast politics beyond what Beck and Grande call «methodological nationalism» and, besides, it is a social lab unprecedented in our history. Despite of its relevance, social sciences and the media don’t give to Europe the due attention. This article gives an account of a wider research that analyzed Europe building from the perspective of the relationship between EU insitutions and organized transnational civil society. This dialogue is very worthy for EU institutions themselves because is considered the best way to create a Europe that goes beyond economical integration and that will be able to offer to its citizens identity, sense of belonging and social solidarity.

Letteratura e scienze sociali: un confine aperto? digital Letteratura e scienze sociali: un confine aperto?
Anno: 2008
«Science» and «literature» have been considered, for very long time, as two separate domains because of their different relationship with «objectivity». This dicothomy has its roots in the logocentric tendency of western thought and culture. After the social sciences «linguistic turn» and the consequent adfirmation of a post-modernist and post-logocentric sensibility the border between literature and (mainly social) sciences hase become more and more permeable and the same distinction between the two spheres has been interpreted in rethorical terms, as a difference between two genres of writing. This article explores reasons and paths that have led to such revenge of the literary domain reflecting both at the epistemological and sociological level.

La distanza sociale. Dimensioni teoriche e attualità di un concetto «classico» digital La distanza sociale. Dimensioni teoriche e attualità di un concetto «classico»
Anno: 2007
Driving inspiration from classic sociology, this paper try to sketch a new way to think to social distance in contemporary society. A key role in defining and understanding social distance is played by Simmel’s thought ad exposed in Sociology where he considers social distance as a process deeply embedded in the social production of knowledge. It is in facts by means of social knowledge that we give sense and organize the physical space, so that it is always a social space as well. At the same time, social space shapes the way in which actors interact and relate to each other, leading the social construction of the cathegories by which they perceive other people as distant or near. So, through Simmel’s cathegories, we can describe urban space as the dynamic overalpping of two maps – physical and social – and we can understand transition from traditional, modern, european town to contemporary metropolis as a change in this overlapping that in the town was full and that, in contemporary metropolis is more problematic and complex.
